Different Types of Lighted Makeup Mirrors and Their Lighting

There are different types of makeup mirrors that you install in your vanity. From Hollywood mirrors to tabletop mirrors and wall-mounted ones, the options are endless. And as these mirrors are different, their lighting system is also different.

For instance, while wall-mounted mirrors and tabletop ones use LED stripes to light up the vanity, Hollywood mirrors incorporate light bulbs to illuminate your face. Changing the bulbs in a Hollywood makeup mirror-like the Wonstart Hollywood Makeup Vanity Mirror is easy as you just need to change the defective bulb alone. However, in case you are using a table mirror or a wall-mounted one such as the Pansonite LED Wall Mount Makeup Mirror that incorporates strip lighting for the illumination, you have to change the whole strip even when only one goes kaput.

But then again, table mirrors and wall-mounted ones often use one single halo bulb to brighten up your face and if your mirror has this type of light, then changing this one bulb will do the work for you.

Now that you know the lighting of different types of makeup mirrors, let’s now discuss how to change their bulbs in times of need.

How to Change The Light Bulb in a Hollywood Makeup Mirror

According to experts and users, changing the lights of a Hollywood mirror is extremely easy and effortless if you have the right tools and accessories with you. To successfully replace a dead light, first, you have to find a bulb that matches the ones that are already incorporated in the mirror. Find a bulb that has the same color temperature, lumen, and power consumption rate as the others for consistent luminosity; if these features don’t match, you won’t get the perfect lighting you have been wanting.

Once you find the right bulb, it’s now time to replace it. First, turn off the power and unplug the mirror to ensure maximum safety. Then leave the mirror for 3-5 minutes to allow it to cool down so that you don’t burn or hurt while working on it.

When the mirror is fully cold and ready, start unscrewing the screws from opposite sides of the mirror housing that is near the rotating hinges.

Then, with utmost care and attention, lift off the top half of the housing that is attached to the arm from the bottom half and place it aside for safety.

Now, unscrew the damaged bulb and remove it from the mirror surface to make a place for the new one. Once the fused light is removed successfully, screw in the new one tightly to secure it in place.

Once the light is mounted in place, now you should bring back the top housing of the mirror and place it on the bottom half. Make sure that the screw holes are aligned; otherwise, the top half of the mirror will turn 180 degrees causing the glass panel to break.

Finish off the process by screwing back the screws into place.

Zadro 7-in Surround Light

On the other hand, if you are using a makeup mirror with a halo ring light, then the first thing you must do is to find a bulb of your choice (you can try out the Zadro 7-in Surround Light). Unlike the bulbs of the Hollywood mirror, you don’t have to match the lumen, color, or power of the previous one.

Once you find just the right bulb for your mirror, start the changing process. But before that make sure that the mirror is unplugged and properly cooled down to avoid any accidents. Now, with a suitable screwdriver, unscrew the part of the mirror that has screws on it (this type of mirror doesn’t have screws on both sides) and then remove the part carefully to reveal the light concealed in it.

After that, unplug the light from the mirrored interior and plug in the new one in the empty place. Push the bulb lightly to set it in place correctly. Then place the removed part carefully in place and screw it properly to ensure security.

In the case of LED strips, follow the same process, but instead of the ring light, paste the LEDs in place and you are good to go.

Wrapping Up

Now that you know how to change the lights in different types of lighted makeup mirrors, we are sure that you will be courageous enough to change the bulb by yourself. Don’t hesitate; it’s just a light bulb.
