How to do a Brazilian blowout at home?

The Brazilian Blowout is a treatment that puts new amino acids into your hair cuticle, making it straighter and smoother. Basically, it’s all about silky, shiny, and smooth hair! It is especially good for curly, wavy, or otherwise unruly hair like mine.

I create an amazing Brazilian  Blowout look at home by following these simple steps, starting with what you need.

What do you need to do it?

To do Brazilian Blowout at home, you need:

  •  a clarifying shampoo
  • a heat protector
  •  a blow dryer that has a nozzle with settings for cool and hot air;
  • an applicator brush or applicator bottle
  • the Brazilian Blowout product itself.
  • flat iron

Steps

  1. Start with clean hair! I wash with a good clarifying shampoo to really get all of the built-up gunk out.

2. Comb your hair to make sure that it’s totally free of tangles and knots. (Pro tip for thick hair: I actually do this both before AND after washing)

3. Totally blow-dry your hair. If it’s thick, you may need to break it down into sections and clip up the top part while you work on the bottom. You want bone-dry hair here.

4. Detangle AGAIN. I’m not kidding, you don’t want to leave behind a single tiny knot.

5. Section off your hair. If it’s relatively fine, three should do it. For thick locks, you may need more sections.

6. Put on your gloves and prep the solution according to the directions. Typically, this means pouring the product into a bowl (NOT one that you’ll ever use again, please).

7. Thoroughly coat your hair with the solution. You don’t want it dripping off, but at the same time make sure you’ve really covered every last strand. I use a wide-tooth comb to help distribute it more evenly.

8. After 30 minutes, blow-dry your hair, then flat-iron it. Again, break it down into sections.

That’s it! Now you should have beautiful straight hair! You can wash it the next day, but if your hair is super frizzy, you may actually want to wait an extra day or two.

How to choose the product & where you can buy the products

My friend was looking for products to do a Brazilian Blowout. I’ll tell you the same thing I told her. First,  buy products made for YOUR hair type.  Then consider how much damage you want to repair from previous chemical treatments on your hair.  If you’ve only colored your hair only once or twice, then the lightest treatment for this will help manage excess oil and buildup that accumulates along with damage from coloring and styling products.

Make sure to use only the original Brazilian Blowout Smoothing Solution and New Pure Processing Cream with every treatment. Also, apply special protective cream throughout the day following the treatment to prevent your hair from drying out, weakening, or breaking off.

How much does a Brazilian blowout cost at home?

It depends on your hair type. If you have very curly hair, you can do it yourself for around $50. For thicker curlier locks, you’ll need more product, so expect to pay up to $250.

By comparison, if you have normal hair, the salon will charge you about $300 to $500.

That cost goes up depending on how thick your hair is.

FAQs

Does Brazilian Blowout ruin your hair?

It depends. If you have very healthy hair and only use it occasionally, then the damage should be minimal. If you’re constantly battering your hair with heat and other chemicals, yes, it could cause major damage.

Which is better Brazilian Blowout or keratin?

The comparison of Keratin vs Brazilian Blowout has always been a long debate. Brazilian blowout is considered best because it gives natural look. Keratin treatment contains keratin protein.
Both offer the same desired effects: smooth, silky, and super shiny hair.

What happens if you don’t rinse out a Brazilian blowout?

Very bad things! If you don’t rinse, you could damage your hair, dry it out, and even suffer from allergic reactions, dizziness, nausea and other not-so-fun side effects.

Conclusion

Brazilian hair straightening treatment is an excellent alternative for natural hair that is prone to frizz and curly. It’s an easy process, and it coats protein to your hair shaft and makes hair soft, smooth, and shiny. It saves the natural curls.  Brazilian Blowout before and after at home is the easiest way to get fresh, healthy-looking hair. You can do it at home.
