1. An Excellent Microfiber Hair Towel

Curly hair locks tend to be sensitive, frizzy and extremely prone to damage and breakage, and that’s why this hair type requires special attention and care. For instance, after a shower, if you rub curly manes with a regular cotton towel, the friction with the fibers will make your hair strands even frizzier which would definitely lead to hair breakage and damage.

Duracomfort Essentials Microfiber Hair Towel

To avoid this situation, we suggest you adopt a microfiber hair towel in your routine; a microfiber hair wrap like the DuraComfort Essentials Super Absorbent Anti-Frizz Microfiber Hair Towel is not only soft and velvety to avoid any friction (that might cause frizz and static) but also super absorbent.

This hair towel absorbs almost 90% of the excess water from your tresses in a matter of just a few minutes leaving them damp so that you need very less heat to dry them completely.

2. A Hairdryer With Diffuser Attachment

It’s a part of our daily routine to dry our wet manes with a hairdryer for a better put-together look. But when you have curly hair strands, drying them with a blow dryer is not enough; you must use a diffuser attachment with the drying tool in order to dry as well as enhance your curls at the same time.

The diffuser diffuses the air (disperse it) from the hairdryer which prevents the dryer to rough up the gentle cuticle of the curly manes and dry them quickly for bouncier, fuller, and voluminous curls.

Remington D3190 Hair Dryer With a Diffuser Attachment

We would recommend this Remington D3190 Damage Protection Hair Dryer with a diffuser attachment for a perfect yet safe hair drying outcome.

Then again if you already have a hair dryer, you can buy extra diffuser attachment (such as this The Curly Co. Collapsible Hair Diffuser) from the market instead of buying a whole new drying tool.

3. The Ultimate Detangler Wide Tooth Comb

Your super-sensitive curly tresses are at their most fragile state when they are wet; they are weak and lack elasticity and that’s why when you run your fingers through the hair strands with the intention to detangle them, there is the extreme possibility that your hair might break off from the root and result in severe hair fall.

Hyoujin Black Wide Tooth Comb

If this is the situation, a wide-tooth detangler comb (such as the HYOUJIN Black Wide Tooth Comb Detangling Hair Brush) is your only ally; this comb runs through your wet hair to detangle them safely for a smoother result  while making sure it doesn’t snag or pull your tresses that might cause untimely hair fall.

4. A Tangle Teezer

Tangle Teezer Brush

A detangler brush might be an excellent choice for wet curly hair locks, but for dry, rough tresses, nothing can beat the convenience of a tangle teezer (Tangle Teezer Brush); this mini size paddle brush gets through every knot and tangle of your manes super easily leaving your tresses silky, soft and knot-free.

Additionally, this brush is also an awesome accessory to travel with because of its mini size and lightweight.

5. A Perfect Hair Straightener

Every now and then, you might want to switch up your hairstyle to flaunt sexy, pin-straight locks or messy beach waves. And to try these hairdos easily and at the comfort of your own home, what’s better than using an excellent quality flat iron?

HSI Professional Glider Ceramic Tourmaline Ionic Flat Iron

With the right hair straightener for curly hair (such as the HSI Professional Glider Ceramic Tourmaline Ionic Flat Iron) you can not only straighten your manes effectively but also can adorn them with lustrous beach waves effortlessly.

6. Hot Air Brush

Well, if you don’t have enough time to dry and style your curly manes for any event, a hot air brush might be your only savior.

With a hair dryer brush, you can dry as well as style (straighten, add volume) your manes simultaneously so that you can enjoy some free time in the morning before diving into your busy work schedule.

John Frieda Advanced Ionic Hot Air Brush

We would recommend this John Frieda Advanced Ionic Hot Air Brush because of its ability to produce salon-grade hairstyles at the comfort of your own home.

7. Bonnet Hair Dryer

We have mentioned before that curly tresses are super sensitive, dry and frizzy and they need special care. A bonnet blow dryer is such a tool that not only ensures healthy hair drying but at the same time also works great with deep conditioning hair treatments (which is a must-have for dry, rough manes).

This special hair drying tool gently circulates warm hair throughout the bonnet to dry your manes as gentler as possible. This device also helps to open up the hair cuticle (unlike regular hand dryers) so that the moisturization and nutrients from the hair treatment can get inside the core of the strands and deep into the scalp for healthier and softer hair locks.

Bonnet Hair Dryers

You can either opt for a hard bonnet hair dryer (like this Conair Pro Style Collapsible Bonnet Hair Dryer) or try a soft bonnet hair dryer (Laila Ali LADR5604 Ionic Soft Bonnet Dryer) according to your preference and convenience.

8. Plastic Hair Processing Caps

We all are familiar with plastic shower caps; these caps help us to keep our manes dry while taking a shower. But there is another feature that made these wraps super beneficial for curly hairs and that is their ability to help in the deep conditioning treatments.

Diane Hair Processing Caps

You can apply your treatment mask and secure it with one of these caps (Diane Hair Processing Caps) so that you can watch TV or do your chores while your hair gets necessary conditioning with being interrupted.

9. Silk Pillowcase

Silk pillowcases are not a luxury; they are necessary if you want to keep your curly locks healthy and gorgeous. Silk pillow cover doesn’t soak up moisture and natural oils from your manes unlike cotton pillows to ensure that they are well hydrated and doesn’t result in any additional frizz and breakages.

Slpbaby Silk Pillowcase for Hair and Skin

You might try SLPBABY Silk Pillowcase for Hair and Skin as it is made from 100% Mulberry Silk and is super comfortable to rest on.

  1. Hi there,

I just cannot thank you enough for your informative articles. From my childhood, I heard that cotton towels are the most suitable to reduce frizz and static from your hair but they never worked for my curly tresses- my curls were always frizzy and unpleasant to look at. After going through this article carefully, I decided to buy the DuraComfort Essentials microfiber towel and give it a try for the sake of my curls.

And I couldn’t believe the result. The frizz from my curls is reducing gradually and I don’t need to dry them with the heat often. I would say that a microfiber hair towel is a must for curly-haired girls.

  3. Hi,

There is no denying that your writing is great. You try to include as much information as possible. However, in most of the articles, I see that you suggest the same products. What’s the reason behind always recommending the same items?

Nevertheless, I loved this article. It helped me a lot to understand which products I should use for my curly hair and whatnot.
